4 Fun Holiday Themed Games for the Kids

Christmas is almost here! Soon the kids will be on break and the holiday festivities will begin. A fun way to keep the kids entertained during their break or at a family gathering is to have some fun games prepared for them to play. Holiday games don't have to be overly extravagant but having a few prepared can be a lot of fun and a joyful memory to be cherished for years to come. Today, our real estate team at the Lake of the Ozarks has a few fun games to enjoy over the holidays.

Candy Cane Search

Have you ever played "Hide the Thimble"? Put a Christmas twist on this classic children's game by using a candy cane instead. All you have to do is take turns hiding the candy cane around the house or one specified room and seeing who can find it first. For older children, use a miniature candy cane.

Pin the Nose on Rudolph

This one requires a little extra preparation ahead of time, but it's fairly easy. All you need is a bulletin board, construction paper, scissors, thumbtacks, and a blindfold. Cut out a basic reindeer body from the construction paper and tack it to the bulletin board. Cut red-orange circles to be the "noses," and stick a thumbtack through the center of each of them. Let the kids take turns being blindfolded and trying to pin Rudolph's nose in the right place.

Want to make it even easier? Save this photo from our blog and pin it up! Use a red craft Pom Pom as the nose!

Build a Snowman

If you're not afraid to clean up a little mess, this game is one that all of the kids are sure to love. Divide the kids up into teams of two or three and give each of them a roll of toilet paper. Start a timer for three minutes, and see how completely they can wrap each other in the toilet paper to transform themselves into snowmen.

Snowball Races

Add some Christmas flair to the "egg races" you played as a child. Instead of balancing eggs on the end of the spoon, use "snowballs" made out of white Styrofoam. Divide kids into two teams and set the race up as a relay. The teams line up, and the first children on both teams will run with the snowball balanced on the end of a spoon held out in front of them. Once they reach a designated point, they will turn around and run back to the next team member in line. The first child passes the spoon to the second, and the pattern repeats. If the snowball falls off of the spoon, the child who dropped it has to start his/her run over. The team to finish first is the winner!
