It's time to turn back time to the 1920-40s this weekend on the Historic Bagnell Dam Strip with the Annual Oma & Noma Heritage Festival.  This event is created to celebrate some of the Lake of the Ozarks pioneers and help depict the history of the Lake of the Ozarks as well as the construction of the Bagnell Dam. Today, many people buy a Lake of the Ozarks Home to enjoy boating, fishing, swimming and watersports; however, back in 1931 it was just an idea that started with the brave steps of two people.  Oma and Noma Degraffenreid were the first local residents to actually cross the Bagnell Dam and each year we celebrate their brave pioneer spirit with the Oma Noma Days. The event is this weekend, Saturday May 19th.  You can expect the Bagnell Dam Strip to be filled with vintage autos, trucks tractors & equipment, bluegrass, blues and old Ozark live music, storytellers, Ozark crafters and a variety of other displays. Here is the schedule of the event: Lu...

Great Ideas to Entertain your Kids on a Snow Day

Image
Another day of snow in the Mid-west means another day out of school for the kiddos!!  Although everyone enjoys sleeping in on a snow day, what in the world do you do with your kids once they wake up??  We thought it would be a good idea to share some ideas on how to entertain your kids!   Here are the top ideas from the Fran Campbell Team to inspire your creativity.   Fill spray bottles or squeeze top bottles (dish soap, Gatorade) with colored water and create designs in the snow. Look for animal tracks or make your own using cars, spoons or shoes.   Experiment with freezing different sized containers of water outside.  Which freeze fastest? Go Sledding! Build a Snowman or a snow fort or make snow angels BAKE - kids love baking cookies or treats that they can enjoy eating later. Bring a container of snow inside and let it melt.  Look with a magnifier at the impurities in that remain after melting. Use the same tools you would use for sand...
