4 Fun Halloween Crafts You Can Do With Your Kids

It's a spooktacular time of year! As the leaves finish their color change and the temperatures drop lower and lower, kids all over the Lake Area are picking out their costumes and gearing up for a spooky, fun-filled night of trick-or-treating. What are you doing to help your kids get in the Halloween mood, besides carving pumpkins? Fran Campbell Team is here to help you embrace the Halloween spirit with these simple crafts you can do with your little ones. (For all of you lucky people who own homes at the Lake of the Ozarks, these crafts can double as charming Halloween decorations!)

Kids' Halloween Craft Ideas

1.  Baby Ghosts
Starting with this craft is a great way to get into the Halloween spirit. For this craft, you'll simply need clear fishing wire, tissues (Kleenex® works well), and a black permanent marker. Take one tissue and wad it up into a little ball. Drape a second tissue over the ball and use the fishing wire to fasten it around the base of the wadded tissue, almost as if you were covering a lollipop. Use the permanent marker to draw a scary ghost face over the little ball you have created, and hang it up on display with another piece of fishing wire.

2.  Construction Paper Jack O'Lanterns
This one couldn't be easier - OR more fun! All you need is orange construction paper, black permanent markers, pencils, and scissors. With the pencil, trace the outline of a pumpkin and use the scissors to cut it out. Finally, use the permanent marker to draw the face of your Jack O'Lantern. If you want, you can use tape to display your creations on cabinets or windows.

3.  Construction Paper Bats
This is another great idea for any of you looking for a quick and easy craft. The only supplies required are black construction paper, googly eyes, pencils, scissors, and possibly tape or a hole punch and possibly fishing. Use the pencil to trace the outline of a bat onto the construction paper, and cut it out with the scissors. Stick the googly eyes on the face of the bat. If you want to display it on windows or cabinets, use the tape. If you want to hang it up somewhere, punch a hole in your bat's tail and use the fishing wire to hang it. Don't forget that bats hang upside down!

4.  Halloween Garland
Remember those construction paper chains you used to make when you were a kid? Why not let your own children get in on the fun this year? All you need is black and orange construction paper, scissors, and a stapler or tape. With the scissors, cut the construction paper into strips about 1-2 inches wide and 4-5 inches long. Bend the strips into circles to create links for the chain, and link them together using the tape or stapler. Hang your Halloween chain across a big central light fixture, around door or window frames, or anywhere else you would like.
