15 New Year's Resolution Ideas for 2015

Can you believe 2015 is almost here? 2014 has been a great year, but now it’s time to look forward to seeing what the next year will bring. The turn of the calendar year is a chance to start fresh – to shed bad habits and adopt new, better ones. Fran Campbell Team is here to provide some inspiration with these great 2014 New Year’s Resolutions ideas.

Get Healthy

Improving our health is almost always top on our list of New Year’s Resolutions, but “getting healthy” is such a vague resolution that most people find it difficult to keep. Most people find it easier to establish smaller, more attainable goals that will contribute to a healthier lifestyle overall. Here are some suggestions.
  • Limit yourself to one trip to any fast food restaurant per week.
  • Substitute carrots and cucumbers for chips a few times per week.
  • Choose specific days of the week to try out new healthy habits, such as "Meatless Mondays" or "Sodaless Saturdays."
  • Eat dark chocolate instead of milk chocolate to satisfy your cravings.
  • Try a new homemade meal once per week, rather than dining out.

Reconnect with Family

It’s easy to get so swept up in the hustle and bustle of our daily lives that we forget to stay in touch with the people we care about the most. Here are some New Year’s Resolutions ideas to help you reconnect with your family in 2015.
  • Call your parents, children, or siblings at least once per week.
  • Establish a “no cell phones at the table during mealtimes” policy.
  • Host a family game night at least once every two weeks.
  • Do something outside together every day, such as walking the dog, going swimming, or going to the park.
  • Read a book or a few chapters aloud as a family every week (rather than just watching TV).

Lose Weight

After the holidays, everyone has a renewed sense of determination for shedding those extra pounds. Unfortunately, most of us find it difficult to maintain this drive as the year goes on. Here are some simple weight loss resolutions that will easier to keep throughout the year.
  • Do fifteen jumping jacks every morning when you first get up.
  • Any time you have a choice, take the stairs instead of the elevator.
  • Do five push-ups every night.
  • Park in the farthest parking space from the door, so you’ll have a longer walk.
  • Do fifteen minutes of physical activity every day, such as walking, stretching, jogging, biking, or swimming.
