Enjoying the Great Outdoors at Lake of the Ozarks


The great outdoors can be enjoyed by everyone at Lake of the Ozarks.   State parks, hiking, camping and caves are just a few of the offerings that will satisfy every outdoor sportsman.

Ha Ha Tonka State Park has breathtaking scenery and is truly a must-see for every outdoors-man visiting the Lake of the Ozarks.  The park offers a wide variety of activities from hiking trails, sinkholes, caves, a natural bridge and the 12th largest spring in Missouri.  The most unique feature you will find while visiting Ha Ha Tonka is the ruins of a stone mansion which burned in 1942.  “The Castle” was purchased by the state and opened for public view in 1978.  This is a great place to take the family for a brisk hike through the historical ruins.  

Lake of the Ozarks State Park stretches over 17,441 acres on the Grand Glaize Arm and is the largest state park in MissouriLOTO State Park has 85 miles of shoreline, two swimming beaches, 12 trails, campsites/cabins and the Ozarks Caverns.   You will also find the Lee C. Fine Memorial Airport featuring a 6,500 foot runway.

If you are considering camping, Lake of the Ozarks is the optimal location offering a wide variety of campgrounds to choose from. Campgrounds have full hookups, pull thrus, tent sites, and cabins and many of the campgrounds offer playgrounds, restrooms/showers, pavilions, laundry, lake access and local store to make your camping experience a pleasure.  Lake of the Ozarks Campground Association (LOCO) offers a complete campground directory listing all the facilities and amenities offered at every Lake of the Ozarks Campground site.

Missouri has over 6,300 registered caves and Lake of the Ozarks is home to 300 of these wild caves. A wild cave becomes “tamed” by adding paved walkways, bridges, lighting and hand rails it becomes known as a “show cave.”   These tamed caves are known as Show Caves and there are four in the Lake of the Ozarks:  Bridal Cave, Fantasy World CavernsJacob's Cave and Ozark Caverns.   These caves can be enjoyed year around with temperatures at approximately 50-60 degrees with warmer temps in the winter and cooler temps in the summer.
