What's Happening at the Lake of the Ozarks This Week

Planning a visit to Lake of the Ozarks August 22-28, 2011? Here's a handy schedule of events, compliments of the Fran Campbell real estate team.

It's Lake of the Ozarks Shootout Week!! These events are centered around the annual boat races. This is a benefit for fire departments and local charities. The event will take place at Captain Ron's in Sunrise Beach. It is free for spectators.

Monday, August 22
  • Lake of the Ozarks Shootout 3rd annual golf tournament at Indian Rock Golf Club in Laurie. Registration and lunch will be at noon and 1pm is the shotgun start. All proceeds benefit Lake Area firefighters and many other local charitable organizations. Cost is $60/person or $240/team of 4. Includes box lunch, golf at Indian Rock Golf Club, golf cart and lots of prizes.

Tuesday, August 23
  • 10am - 4pm; LO Profile's Celebrity Volleyball Tournament at Captain Ron's.

Wednesday, August 24
  • 7:30am - 4pm; 2nd annual Class One Remote Controlled Mini-Shootout Boat Race at Captain Ron's.
  • 6pm start; The Shootout Meet and Greet will be held on the Bagnell Dam Strip in Lake Ozark. Racers, race boats, sport rigs and race teams that are participating in the Shootout boat races will be set up along the Strip. Come see boats and meet the people behind the throttles.
Thursday, August 25
  • Shootout PWC Dam Run. Registration is $150/entry and begins at 9am. Start is 10am from Surdyke Yamaha to Truman Dam and then back to Shorty Pants.

  • 10am-11:30 am PWC Class Run
  • 11:30 am - 12:30 pm Professional/Manufacturer Classes Run
  • 12:30 pm - 3:30 pm Open Classes Run
  • 3:30 pm - 5:00 pm Professional/Manufacturer Classes Run
Sunday, August 28
  • 10:00 am - 11:30 am Professional/Manufacturer Classes Run
  • 11:30 am - 3:30 pm Open Classes Run
  • 3:30 pm - 4:30 pm Professional/Manufacturer Classes Run
  • 4:30 pm - 5:00 pm Final Top Gun Runs
  • 6:00 pm Awards Ceremony on the barge at Captain Ron's

Tuesday, August 23
  • The Firefighters Motorcycle Group's Wind and Fire Motorcycle annual rally will take place at Captain Ron's in Sunrise Beach. This is an all day event. For more information, call 573.374.5852
Thursday, August 25
  • 7:30 am - 8:45 am; Lake Area Chamber Quarterly Breakfast to be held at Willmore Lodge in Lake Ozark. Cost is $8 for Chamber members and $18 for non-chamber members. For more information call 573.964.1008
Thursday, August 27 - Saturday August 27

Saturday, August 27
  • Water Wars Weekend at Cross Creek RV Park in Lake Ozark will start at 10am. There will be a paddle boat contest, wet hayride, kids slip n' slide, water balloons, golf, potluck dinner and more. For more information, call 1.888.250.3885.
  • 8am - 2pm; The Fall 27-Acre Yard Sale will be at the Laurie Fairgrounds. This is a giant yard sale in one location. Park your car and shop for bargains. Admission is Free. For more information, call 573.374.8776.
  • 9am - 4pm; Town & Country Market at the Camden County Museum in Linn Creek. Local crafts and homemade food items will be available for your enjoyment. Admission is Free. For more information, call 573.346.7191
Sunday, August 28
  • 7pm; Osage National Golf Resort presents the Rock On Summer Jam at the Outdoor Pavilion. Music will be provided by The Red Eyed Bob Band. Admission is Free. For more information, call 573.365.1950 or visit www.OsageNational.com
In addition to these activities, many of the Lake of the Ozarks area restaurants and bars have live music nightly.
