Preschooler Activities at the Lake of the Ozarks

Have you ever wanted to come to the Lake of the Ozarks for a vacation getaway, but were not sure if there would be enough activities for your active toddler or preschooler --not to worry, there is plenty for children of this age. I speak from the experience of having two grandsons, who only stop to sleep.

One of my grandsons’ favorite activities is the Funny Farm Petting Zoo in Laurie, MO. If you want to preview the animals and get the little ones excited look them up on Facebook. The guided tour is paced to meet each child’s level of interest. During the tour the children are allowed to pet and feed animals as they learn about them. For this trip take drinks so the little ones stay hydrated.

Your little ones might also enjoy going to the Camdenton city pool, but Eldon and Versailles also have city pools. If you want even more water fun Big Surf Waterpark with free admission up to age 4 is the place to go. Tropical Splash Island, at Big Surf Waterpark, is a fabulous water playground with lots of room to splash and play.

If you get a little water logged? Miner Mike’s indoor family fun center gives children the opportunity to explore in the tunnels (with ball pits, slides and activities) or ride the train, Ferris wheel or bumper cars. There are also token operated rides and games to enjoy.

We have numerous parks with amazing play grounds. We enjoy spending time at the Hillbilly Fairgrounds in Laurie. In September the boys will beg me to go back to the Laurie Hillbilly Fair, which is filled with rides for the little guys. My advice is to buy the wrist band as it will quickly pay for itself. We also enjoy the Camdenton City Park.
Want more land based activities? There is always something going on at Bagnell Dam on the Strip or at the River Park.

These are just a few the activities at Lake of the Ozarks that my grandsons enjoy. I know there are many more activities for toddlers and preschoolers.
