Mandatory Posting of 911 Addresses on Boat Docks

A tax bill signed by Missouri Governor Nixon designed specifically for Lake of the Ozarks went into law in June. HB103, sponsored by several Lake Area Legislators, makes it mandatory for owners who have a dock on lakes with more than 950 miles of shoreline to display their 911 street numbers on the dock in such a manner that emergency personnel can clearly view it from the water. The mandatory posting of the 911 addresses is scheduled to begin January 1, 2010. Any person who fails to post the address will be considered guilty of an infraction of state law and will be fined. Missouri Water Patrol officers said they will work with dock owners who do not immediately post the numbers by issuing warning for first offenses. Osage Beach development targets unique living for older adults

Courtesy of Lake of the Ozarks Business Journal April 2009: Four Missouri developers have announced The Rose at Tan-Tar-A, a unique concierge retirement living center to be constructed at Lake of the Ozarks, specifi cally Osage Beach. Dr. Steve Cohen, a retirement center consultant for 20 years, said The Rose at Tan-Tar- A would offer affordable luxury living featuring concierge services to take the hassle out of every day life, in fact, their motto is “inconvenience is not an option.” “Normally, if you have a problem, whether it’s connecting a high defi nition television or fi xing your computer, that means time out of your life,” Cohen said. “The very wealthy have a staff for those kinds of things, but everyone else has to spend 30 minutes on the phone or a day trying to connect wires.” At The Rose, residents will simply call the on-site concierge who will solve the problem. Although incredibly convenient, the program’s “shared ownership” means that The Rose will remain affordable. ...

Happy Memorial Day Weekend! Fran Campbell Team wants to make sure that everyone living, traveling to and enjoy Lake of the Ozarks this weekend is safe. Below you will find an article about life jacket safety, and how to get your kids enthused about being safe on the Lake - Enjoy! LAKE OZARK, Mo. -- AmerenUE will once again join the Missouri State Water Patrol in promoting the importance of wearing life jackets while boating on the Lake of the Ozarks. The main focus of the project is on children, since Missouri law requires that children under the age of seven wear a life jacket when aboard a boat. The project is also intended to help educate everyone about the importance of wearing life jackets. AmerenUE has provided the Water Patrol with T-shirts bearing the message, “I got caught wearing my life jacket.” Water Patrol officers will hand out the T-shirts as a reward to children “caught” wearing their life jackets throughout the summer boating season. “This program is a good way to reco...

Memorial Day Weekend!

Memorial Day Weekend. What is it all about? Fran Campbell Team wanted to take a moment to honor the true meaning of Memorial Day. While we are thrilled that so many people enjoy their "long weekend" at Lake of the Ozarks, we also wanted to remind everyone of why we actually have this holiday. Memorial Day, originally called Decoration Day, is a day of remembrance for those who have died in our nation's service. There are many stories as to its actual beginnings, with over two dozen cities and towns laying claim to being the birthplace of Memorial Day. While Waterloo N.Y. was officially declared the birthplace of Memorial Day by President Lyndon Johnson in May 1966, it's difficult to prove conclusively the origins of the day. It is more likely that it had many separate beginnings; each of those towns and every planned or spontaneous gathering of people to honor the war dead in the 1860's tapped into the general human need to honor our dead, each contributed honorab...
