Mandatory Posting of 911 Addresses on Boat Docks

A tax bill signed by Missouri Governor Nixon designed specifically for Lake of the Ozarks went into law in June. HB103, sponsored by several Lake Area Legislators, makes it mandatory for owners who have a dock on lakes with more than 950 miles of shoreline to display their 911 street numbers on the dock in such a manner that emergency personnel can clearly view it from the water. The mandatory posting of the 911 addresses is scheduled to begin January 1, 2010. Any person who fails to post the address will be considered guilty of an infraction of state law and will be fined.

Missouri Water Patrol officers said they will work with dock owners who do not immediately post the numbers by issuing warning for first offenses.
