But, before you can celebrate in your new lake home, there are a few key items to take care of. The first being moving. Moving into a new home is exciting, but the packing and logistics aren't always. Our team of real estate agents at the Lake of the Ozarks is here with a few tips to help make your time spent moving much easier!
Make a List & Check it Twice
Making a list of all the items you're planning on bringing with you will save you time and energy in the long run. You can even code your list with the labels of boxes (we'll get to that) so that you know exactly where each item is as you're unpacking. This will save you ALOT of hassle and headache when it comes to unpacking and finding what you need when you need it.
Start Packing Ahead of Time
Instead of waiting until the final week before the big move, start packing ahead of time. There are likely some items you're bringing along that you won't necessarily need for a while. For example, If it's winter, begin packing your summer clothes, or vice versa. You're going to have a lot going on during the moving process and packing ahead of time can make things easier!
Label EVERYTHING
Just as you made the list to help keep organized during packing, labeling all the boxes according to what's being stored in them is essential to the unpacking process. You can do this in a variety of ways, color coding, numbering, or simply writing the contents of the box. It may seem minuscule, but you'll be thanking yourself when you find yourself in need of something while unpacking.
Utilize Moving Supplied You Already Own
While it may come as a surprise, you actually have plenty of moving supplies at your home already. Consider using things such as clothing or sheets as extra padding for breakable items. Use suitcases and duffle bags to utilize storage space on items you're already packing. This will cut down on the time and space required to move.
