Tips to Keep your Home Looking Clean!!
Have you ever had a friend that just always seems to have a clean home?? What is her secret? How does she manage to keep her home organized and clean? Does she have super powers or a super cleaning lady? Well, either way, there are a few things YOU can do on a daily basis that will make your home feel tidy and clean!!
- Clean your Kitchen - This one little task will make your home look and feel so much nicer AND you avoid the build up of dirty dishes, funky smells and stains on your sink. Each night before you head to bed, take a few minutes to clean your kitchen. This doesn't mean you need to do a deep clean, just simply put dirty dishes in the dishwasher, wipe down your counters and scrub/dry your sink until it’s shiny.
- Do your Laundry - Each day try to do at least one load of laundry. One way to start this habit is to load your washing machine when you wake up and put it in the dryer before you leave for the day. Then when you return home, you have one load of laundry to fold. This will save you 5 loads over the weekend!! Obviously, some loads will need to be folded immediately upon drying - in this case you may need to modify the chores to fit your schedule best.
- You've Got Mail!! - Don't allow your mail to pile up. After bringing your mail in the house, process/sort/shred/throw away your daily mail. No need to delay this chore - it's an easy one that only takes a few minutes!
- Toss your Trash - Seems like a no-brainer, right? Well, look around your house, I bet most of us could find packages or trash that could have been easily thrown away. Don't put off minor tasks like throwing away your trash - these minor things build up and create a home of clutter and chaos.
- Tidy up Before Bed - There is nothing nicer than waking up to a clean home. It's just a great way to start the day! Again, we are not saying you need to spring clean your home, just make sure your home is basically straightened up each night.
- Cleaning Schedule - This can be a life saver for busy people. The last thing you want to do each night is clean your entire home - but it would probably be feasible to clean for 30 mins or 15 mins? Design a schedule that will allow you to clean portions of your home each night so that at the end of the week your entire home is looking good (or you at least have a head start)!
- The Junk Drawer - Every clean home needs a junk drawer or a junk cabinet to place some random things that do not yet have a "home." This is also a great place to hide something if someone drops by and you don't have time to clean up properly. Don't let this space grow too large - clean it out periodically and find a "home" for the items so that the space does not get overwhelming.
We understand the demands of life and these are just a few tips to help you keep your home looking clean and tidy. However, find a system that works for you and your family - it will definitely pay off if you are trying to sell your Lake of the Ozarks Home!!
